I swear that is so power supply.
It could also be motherboard.
I had a ram problem once, here are symptoms:
1) Sometimes the computer doesn't start up.
I hit the switch, and no video comes on.
2) Random crashes.
3) Black Screen Of Death. (Linux.)
4) Blue Screen Of Death. (Windows.)
5) Biggest givaway: Fails memory on bootup.
You had better try that.
Here is something to try: Get one of those dirt
cheap 300$ walmart machines. It's 850mhz Duron,
which beats my celeron, which works okay for games.
It has a crappyass video card, so buff it up with an
80$ GeForce2. You can also move lots of hardware frmo
your old computer into the new one. If the walmart
machine has bad case ventilation or weak power, use
merge it with your old equipment to find a solution.
As always, old heatsinks and fans can still be useful.
Mount old ones from your old computer in interesting
ways to make overclocking feasable, and use a second
disk on a second IDE channel as swap space. Make sure
it's a seperate channel from your main HD, mount it
under the CDROM.
And don't throw away that Kyro, give it some poor OpenGL
coder. (Like me ;) Different chipsets have all kinds
of OpenGL extensions that are oh so fun to play with.
(NV-VAR is so badass, and I still haven't mastered it.)
(Actually I don't want it, no computer to put it in.) |
