Concerning the free channels: THat is because AT&T hasn't jumped into the next step of cable called: Traps. They work wonders on preventing unauthorized cable usage. =-) Is your modem losing the connection or is your computer/router/WAP losing the connection? What model of modem/router/hub/wap? did YOU split the line or was it already split before your modem? If you split it, you may not have enough signal for your modem to work properly.
