      Evidently you haven't used WinME.. =) by technobill2002-06-17 15:10:10
        Nope. by Arcanum 2006-11-19 12:55:59
I went straight from 98SE to 2000 Pro, and never looked back. My opinion of ME: "All the problems of 2000, with none of the benefits!" I would bet you still aren't using all your system's CPU power, even if you are eating up the RAM.

That said, I have a PIII-850 w/512MB of RAM, running the following (at the moment) under Windows 2000 Pro: Opera
Clean Limewire
WinAmp w/ DSP plugin
Trillian (combines messaging clients, including AIM, ICQ, and MSN)
BlackICE Defender
SETI@Home (it only does processing when the screensaver is up, though)
PowerStrip (video card util)
TrayManager (for consolidating tray icons)
Download Accelerator
Adaptec DirectCD
Norton Antivirus
Palm HotSync Utility
Lexmark Junk
WinVNC
Some drivers and services for VMWare

My CPU usage is hovering between 15 and 25% (because of the Winamp DSP plugin; it would be around 5% without the DSP), and I still have 162+MB of RAM free (I have a large, permanent swap file).
