That way, you get away from that whole "suffer not a witch to live" thing (NOLAWitch, could you stand on that big X right there?) and the pesky "spare the rod and spoil the child" and "if a man lie with another man, he should be put to death" lines that have caused SO much trouble.

On the other hand, ever since Jesus said that having a naughty thought about someone was the same as committing outright adultery, we're all in a lot more trouble. He also wrecked that convenient loophole that allowed us to lie, as long as it wasn't to hurt anyone (bear false witness against my neighbor? heck no, I bore false witness to save my own ass!). So it's a tradeoff of sorts.
