one step closer to WWIII? by ma petite2006-11-19 12:55:59
how about this by Borish 2002-06-17 07:46:05
The ASPA (american servicemen protection act) on the agenda of the US congress/senate includes a proposition that sanctions an attack on the Netherlands, in case a US-soldier is inprisoned bij the international war tribunal, witch will be housed in The Hague.
So, a US Serviceman does something wrong, he gets arrested and transported to The Hague, the US launch an attack to free him (/her). In accordance to chapter 5 of the NATO manifesto, an attack on one NATO country is an attack on all of NATO, so the US would be forced to defend the Netherlands.....
A bit schizofrenic to me.
But still, to threaten to attack an ally.
To me this shows somewhat of a lack of trust of the US in it's own juridical system, since the rules of the international tribunal state that it will only act when nations involved do not take appropriate action on war-crimes.
