First of all, no Catholic who didn't want to be excommunicated would EVER not help someone just because they weren't Catholic. Secondly, there's some 6 billion people in the world, total. Not all of them are poor. Thirdly, I said distributed amongst the poor, not amongst the populace. I appologize if I spoke unclearly.

Of course the art could be bought by Meuseums, but what was included in this was things like relics (things like the shroud of Turin, skeletons of saints, and the like) and cathedrals. When your talking about not-paintings, it's more likely to be bought by a private collector. Also, the Chruch doesn't charge admittance to a cathedral, while a muesum would.

This is just some trivia from a few years ago. Like most entities, the Church likes to keep an invintory of what it has and how much it's worth - this is roughly the accumilated art and such of all of the Church (with a capitol C). So, to see it, you'd have to viset every Catholic church on Earth.

I feel obliged to point out that the "pedophile... business" is not a Chruch issue. It is an issue of the American Church. In fact, it's only an issue in a few diociess. This is, of course, opposed to what the media would have one believe. Of course the Pope more or less told the Americain Bishiops to go home and deal with it - he's got a lot of other people to worry about!

And, how is NOT doing charitable works with thier money going to solve ANY issue? Diverting funds isn't going to do anyone any good.
