Who ever said the Art had to be sold to private collections?
Why couldn't various museums purchase the art? Spread it around, so to speak.
Would they use that money for all 6 billion people? Or only for Catholics? That would probably increase the pennies per person a bit, but still, an insignificant fund when distrubted evenly amongst the population. (As opposed to helping those who need it, and not those who are Catholic CEO's etc.)
Another question comes to mind. Have you ever seen this collection? Where is it located? I wouldn't mind perusing nearly 4 billion dollars worth of art. Do I have to travel to the Vatican? Or is it available in my local Catholic church?
I do agree though, that the Church is doing a much better job these days than then. I also feel obliged to point out that this is not an issue I feel particularly strongly about. I would be MUCH more interested in seeing them straighten out this whole pedophile policy business than see them focus on doing charitable works with their money. |
