You also must understand that the Church funds more than the Chruch's hierarchy. The Chruch funds education, hospitals, relief funds, etc, as part of its mission. So money isn't so easily funneled to different areas like legal fees and fattening the Pope's vaults. The Catholic Chruch was never designed to be a bunch of money-hungry greedy people whom coax those out of money. Leave that to the Spanish royalty. There have been some bad things that have been done in the Catholic Chruch, but over 2000 years of imperfect men, what do you expect? Today the Church is more educated and not do darn ignorant on things. Reluctance to change, yes, but you also have to tell 1/5th of the world to do so. Try that with various differences in the Church and get everyone to agree.
