The Vatican actually did a study, and if they sold all of thier art, artifacts, relics, etc., at appraised value, then evenly distributed amongst all the world's poor... it ends up being about $.62 per person.

The Church feels that more people can benifit from having the works displayed so that everyone can see them, than selling them, and having the art cloisterd away in some privet collection.

*shrug* just a non-specific thought

And, as an active and somewhat educated Catholic, I think the way the money is handled (overall/ worldwide, not neccecarily in all dioceses), is MUCH better than it was in the middle ages.
