Trust me I did not mean to come across that way... But if want to learn? Gentoo is the best way and is the easiest way to build your system/server from scratch, and you will have the benefit of having a fully customized system for your cpu and chipset. I also know a number of people who don't even know any commands for linux and have installed it.

The package management "Portage" is 100X better for a number of reasons; one reason is just for the simple fact they are not pre built packages. More like files that tell your system what dependencies it needs downloads the latest tar ball compiles, and installs.

Again sorry for coming off that way, I thought if you knew about reiserfs you knew a bit more than most.

If I ever have to install a server a client wants linux apache etc... I use gentoo now :)Same thing for desktops; KDE3.01 and Gnome2 just rock and also I know exactly what's in it.

And with winex I don't need winderz for games anymore. Gentoo is also in the top 10 distro according to DistroWatch.com http://www.distrowatch.com/top.php
