I know that there is a bug with windows networking. The bug is caused when a space or two(or other unprintable charactor) is accidentally appended to a computers name. The space/s will cause the windows machine to not be able to access the windows network. I do not know if they fixed this in XP but it was still there in Win98 and WinNT4.0 .
