I believe he actually used this on two potential investors, the Cola drink manufacturer (using the rival company's logo) & a newspaper tychoon (using the Hammer & Sickle)
I may be wrong - as I age, my memory has gotten soggy. I started re-reading the story (& its sequel 'Requiem') yesterday (for about the 20th time since teen-hood)
'The Man Who Sold The Moon' & 'Requiem' are excellent, compelling, wistful, sad stories. I beleive Heinlein's short stories/novellas (esp. the 'Future History' yarns) are his best writing.
But I love 'The Moon is a Harsh Mistress'. 'Stranger' is just disturbing, & most of his other (later) novels begin well but lose their way - I still enjoy reading most of them, & have done so multiple times.
I still can't decide if I enjoy Heinlein or the Good Doctor Asimov more - been trying to decide for 2 decades.
