There is no real left or right in the U.S. "Just corporate criminals/Playin' with tanks"[1]. If we ever stopped whining, grew up, and stopped asking the "gummint" to clean up our messes for us, then *maybe* we'd get somewhere; but as it is, it's just Lord Alexander Tyler's observation[2], waiting to repeat itself.
