Interesting News Story by nimdokk2006-11-19 12:55:59

i think handspring is definitly trying to make a break into the health-care sector - and i think they could do rather well at it. i've seen demo's of handheld tools from a healthcare vendor before and i think handspring is the simplest tool since it is so versatile already and can easily be dropped into an existing hospital infrastructure. Dr.'s could dictate notes on patients into them, pop in different medical reference books (which are already available for Handspring), i'm sure there are quite a few other devices which could be integrated into a handspring. then combine it with Bluetooth technology and the data could instantly be uploaded to a database with patient information and the records would be updated before the patient walked out of the hospital. base stations at the nurse stations could make synching up easy. i'm sure basic patient information could easily be accessed from a server via the handheld without having to resort to things like full-blown PCs in patient care areas since there is always a risk of infection and such getting into the electronics. oh the possibilities :)
