Hey watch out!!! Didn't you knew, if your computer is seeing something disguasting it might coz them to crash *lol*
Seriously: I once found a virus sigature in a gif-Image ... but that happend by chance ... it was no harm, pictuers will not be 'interpreted' in the memory.
Even if you would load a Image (which would include a virus signature) into the memory of your PC, you would have to set the basepointer-register at the starting adress of the virus ... something that will never been done by showing a picture.
Therefore, the whole article and everything simmular to it is '********'. Everybody who knows about the functioning of a computer should know that without even reading the article.
As long as no Company (for example M$) invents a new grafik format which includes a script (a interpreter) language a picture, Video, mp3, wave, ... etc ... will never be any harm.

But I hear so many times how ppl who work with computers fear about viruses and hackers and so on ... and tell me there ideas ... and most of it just sounds like SciFi for me - and really gets on my nerves ... I have to explain over and over how a ALU works and that this and that is not more then SciFi, even if it was in the Computer-Magazine ... etc etc etc.
The funny thing is, ppl worry so much about, a virus could sneak in over the phone line .. so i allways unplug it over night ...
But send the same person a "funny.exe" and they will start it with no 2nd thought about what they are doing. *sigh* it is just soooooooooo depressing. (And I'm not even in the Helpdesk!!!) |
