The gods all play tricks. You just have to chose the one that plays the tricks you like. I happen to like the tricks Eris plays with my mind.
The point I am trying to make here and that has eluded you somehow, is that though many people *say* they believe in the same god they do not have the same concept of what that god is in their minds.
The other point in these posts is about how the "Real" world is perceived and from what assumptions you start your explanation from. I assume that all there is, is Chaos. This Chaos can be perceived by our senses (and through scientific methods and apparatus). Whatever it is that is perceived, is then interpretated by the mind. While most people's sensory organs are not completly similar their minds differ even more.
The associations that the minds makes with what it perceives are therefore not the same for everybody. So if somebody says God, then two people will think of two different things, even if both belong to the same faith.
This means that either everyone of these different gods is only imaginary or they are all just different perceptions of the one real thing. *) According to how similar those perceptions are, people group together in religions.
We might not even be able to grasp every aspect of this one real thing, because we might lack the sensory appartus to do so.
Furthermore, this real thing, I think, is just a pattern emerging from the Chaos. Our minds are able to recognize this pattern and associate ideas and concepts with it that can be conveyed as the God Idea.
The same goes for every other thing that people can imagine.
*)or maybe someone actually got it right and his/her idea of god is the real one. But how would one prove that? |
