We have a cat that we adopted from a friend who was moving out of state. He does fine out side.
However, he grew up as an indoor cat with other cats and dogs.
So he had previous experience with inter-pet relationships before having to deal with our other (outdoor) cats.

We live on a busy road but he has not gotten hit, probably it is busy enough that he has never tried to cross it.

For the first two years after he moved in he was definatly a subordinant, now I think that he is the alpha-(semi)-male in our lot and the neighboring lots.

But then also he's big enough to take care of himself (not fat). We fantasize that he would look good in a Harly jacket. But he's layed back like a St Bernard. When he's happy he drools like one to.
