depending on what it is. The secretairy is supposed to catch it on outgoing doccuments or inter docs done by superiors. I know as I worked for the government here for awhile. I also worked for an automotive dealership.(which was a little more lax on some wordings for inter dept docs) Sometimes things are rushed through and the occasional thing gets missed. Other times something was dictated odd but usually they are supposed to check and correct it. For direct reports though if they don't have a secretairy or an assistant. They obviously have a spell checker if they have a computer to use so they should use that. Also they should of had some training about turning in reports, language of them, etc. Depending on where they got their degree's training. I was taugh form and content when doing office things in school. I've always had problems with pronoun reversals and sound alike words. But when its a written doc typically I looked it over and also ran in through the spell checker then printed a draft to make sure the grammer looked fine then sent the good copy off.

Amusingly though I've worked for the government doing office stuff I've found some of their workers very sloppy. They have hand written over typed docs their own corrections in spelling or sentence structure. Or even at times scribbled their thoughts on the edges in pen. Then with that all still there sent it off as an official paper. In having to fight the government on various rights issues amoungst other things I noticed this and did comment to at least one workers boss. Also other organizations noticed and wondered about the workers skills.

Personally for grammer in general I don't think official docs should contain slang. And office docs aside I find leet speak a pita. More than exteramly long acros and some of those bug me because frankly they are hard to translate. I don't mind acros though per se as they in a sense are modern shorthand.(and yes I do have a book here on shorthand)
