and on a standard keyboard, the key to the immediate right of the zero and right parenthesis has a short line, - the hyphen, and a long line, _ the underscore.
(Funny how the underscore is an uppercase...;)
Whenever you feel the need to use a dash, and you are working with a standard keyboard which does not have a key for a dash, it is a generally acceptable practice to use two hyphens instead. High-quality printing does have a dash, which is an unbroken line roughly the same length as two hyphens.
