Linux cluster as in all acts as 1 comp? Specs? by Freakazoid2002-06-12 07:41:57

They're all AMD XP 1800+ (I think) with 1Gb of RAM each. They're clustered using OpenPBS for batch scheduling and MPICH (a free implementation of the MPI (message passing interface) standard) for 'real' parallel processing.

The server and 5 nodes are 2 CPU, the remaining 5 nodes are single CPU. My previous cluster was a straight 1 CPU per node/2 CPU server, P3 1GHz, 512Mb RAM setup - in a custom chassis.

Its going to be used to do molecular modelling and molecular simulations - and is retiring a couple of aging SGI machines...

And I want one at home too :-( My home cluster is only 3 nodes :o(
