  Installing a Recovery Console by Mr Weirdo 2002-06-11 22:02:16
In Win 2k, (and XP) it is possible to install a Recovery Console to your hard disk, but, (of course) it doesn't come installed by default.

You will need around 70 meg of space for it though..

Once you have W2K fixed, put the install CD in the drive and go Start>Run> <your CD drive>:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons and follow the directions.

Next time you reboot, you will have a new boot option, "Microsoft Windows Recovery Console". It's somewhat limited, but it should let you get things working at least well enough to boot into Safe mode, from where you should be able to sort things out.
