I mean really really badly suck.
I've seen the slot placement errors you have as well. Not much to be done about that. Recently I fixed a coworkers Presario, which involved wiping it completely clean, getting rid of the HORRID Quick Restore crap that it showes on you and installing Win98SE from a OEM cd. It was a big pain to do, but in the end the machine runs better than it ever did. And the hard drive is not 20% locked up by Quick Restore anymore.
The Compaq drivers are pathetic, and I believe most of them were written for Win 3.11 (I'm being serious here, not sarcastic). Their diagnostic tools are worse.
On top of all that, I support about 100 Compaq workstations to earn my daily wage, and in the past two weeks (one month after the warranty ran out), 5 (FIVE!!!) power supplies have died.
I will never, ever, buy a Compaq, nor will I ever suggest that anyone else does.
