well if it optimizes code, more power to it. I have been the victim of limited resources before...not a fun situation. You bring up an interesting point with the "should have been written in assembly anyway" to which I say- hey...might as well go full hog. Might as well optimize it all the way, and take the compiler/optimizer out of it. Another issue I have is if you are trying to optimize with one compiler, what happens when you port to another architecture? Prolly won't optimize the same way. *shrug* I say...if it works, do it- but you get to deal with it when something craps out. I'm going on break. ;)
