they're called "Lunch Box PC's." you lose the portability of a laptop but you get a mobile(ish) desktop. the hardest thing was getting a power supply with a battery. mounted in a car with 802.11 (and network sniffer) and the sound going into the car and you've got a mobile computer and mp3 player. add mapping software and it becomes the envy of all your geek friends.
