Flag-waving and false patriotism are both really scary. Its the whole group mentality on a pretty large scale. During the winter olympics the tv networks kept a medal count which they kept pointing out was unofficial. I always thought that atletes representing countries went against the whole idea of the olympics. I've never been into the whole atheletic patriotism thing. Sure, I cheer for my local football team but I don't really follow the national team at all. I'm cheering for someone else in the world cup since I think they're the better team. And that's what its really about.
