...even slightly *behind* it, because the "line of sight" is bent a little by the sun's gravity. (One of the experiments that helps to "prove" one of Einstein's theories.)

I wouldn't try looking in that direction with the naked eye, though: similar to times when an eclipse knocks out much of the atmospheric scattering, the corona could do a nasty job on the ol' retinas!

A few (very simple) special instruments are needed to perform the observation, safely.
