Question... by LaktoseOtto2002-06-11 06:05:11
You just opened up a can of worms. by pecosdave 2002-06-11 06:13:13
Many will say RedHat, but then again Mandrake is based on Redhat, kinda like RedHat improved. Between the two I would go with Mandrake since I like KDE better and RedHat almost shuns KDE.

Some sadist will say GenToo because you build your own and will scare you away from Linux forever with difficult setup.

I will pipe up with quite a few others and say SuSE, but there best help documentation is in German and hasn't necessarily been translated to English. At least the online documentation anyways, but it easy to maintain.

You'll have several who say never anything but Slackware or Debian. To be honest I'm considering Debian myself, but just haven't gotten around to trying it. From what I understand it's not for beginers but that wont stop people from recomending it anyways.

Then you'll have serveral people who say don't touch Caldera. I agree don't, they are very bad about making working evaluation version and don't like the fact that it's GPLed. More like we allowed you to have your copy because we have to let you have it.
