A living for someone else.

I know plenty of people who play with PCs in their spare time, does that mean we shouldn't be paid because we do professionally what they do for fun?

That is a dangerous position to take... What about people who write Game Software? Car mechanics (I fix my own car for fun...)?

Lots of things that some people do for a living are done for fun by others, so what?

I agree that professional footballers are paid silly-money, but "so what?" again. I believe everyone should have the opportunity to use their talents to secure the best possible lifestyle for themselves and their families. Just because our society (in some regards) rewards footballers better than Engineers or Doctors, is that the fault of the footballers?

The situation now is better than it was 40 years ago in the UK when a pro-footballler had a MAXIMUM wage of £10/week. The players that won the world cup in 1966 for England were all paid £10/week and the clubs kept the profits... better (morally if no other way) that the people responsible for the clubs' success should be rewarded. IMO anyway.
