| One of my problems |

And I know it is one that is shared by many here, is simply an inability to get a membership right now. Perhaps they don't have Paypal or a credit card, or more likely, they are a struggling student who just doesn't have the money right now. This summer all the money I will be making is going straight to college/paying off loans. I am barely saving enough money to be able to go to the UF meet in Chicago.
Now I do agree that the price is fair. Illiad has spent much time considering this. However the fact remains that $36 is a fairly considerable amount of money for some people in some circumstances. (Personally I couldn't do the monthly thing, if I'm going to support Illiad I'm going all out, plus it's cheaper overall) Now for people like me, we would be able to follow the discussion but not to contribute. I don't know about others, but the entire reason I love the comments is that I can jump in anytime with my own advice, trivia, bad movie quotes, support, etc. Having to front a bunch of money for this priviledge just doesn't seem right to me. I can think of no better website that I would prefer supporting finacially, but if it became a requirement for interaction here I could very well lose interest and drift away. As it is I can support Illiad with ad-clicks until I am able to afford membership (and I'm still very disappointed that I was unable to get a charter membership, at the time, like now, I just didn't have the $36) and I can still participate in the daily fun.
I just can't see people being THAT interested in reading all the comments knowing that they are unable to contribute unless they pay a fee. I will grant that a lot if the time I spend here is "lurking" without posting, but I see it differently because I am ABLE to post whenever I want.
