| Please do backups ... |

... I hadn't done one recently and am suffering for it now.
Okay so I'm not particularly suffering except for the fact that my desktop is shot. It doesn't work. I came home from Tahoe last night and could hear my hard drive screaming in pain from two rooms away. Apparently it had a SERIOUS crash while I was gone and started grinding away at itself. I don't know what could have caused this and the answers I've gotten when I ask around here are kinda lame.
My dad says its prolly the Logitech subwoofer under my desk, or the television on the table next to the table the computer is under. I don't know about either of those, they sound kinda iffy but then again this happened last year too.
The floor people at the local Gateway store ( yea, its a Gateway ) said that it might be because the computer is under a window. Even though the window is covered with a blanket and rarely ever is opened. Apparently the "drastic" temperature change from day to night can cause the hard disk to become warped and eventually totally unusable. I dunno.
Anyways, any suggestions or possible ideas? This happened last year too, around this time of year too. Could it really be the whole window thing? Just a though. Anyways hope you all are doing well, and remember to do your backups.
Anyone need a 60g paperweight? |
