Wai. Lai ho ma? No gung ho nito jung yan. For obvious reasons... no go si noi ji/nam jai hai hunan. Btw do you read it? I read a little pin yin. My uncle was born in Bejing I think and he was the son of the last british amassador to china before the communists too over. I used to love going out with him to chinese places as a little girl.(lots of neat looking stuff for one and well he would be silly and order me various drinks in chinese. Things like "grasshopper" which ended up being a mint shake) Though there was over 100 dialects he was tutuored in all if not most as well as spoke a few other languages I think. After communism his family moved to canada or something and thats when he met my aunt who was born in Sunderland but came here when she was nearly a teen.
My kids have family in hong kong too. In kowloon one runs a museum and not paid attention to what the others do. Many others are in Sunton, Canton. My kids never have been to china but at some point my son will visit family. I hear though it is really hot there and bottled water is a good idea.
Btw out of curiosity... though I know you wont tell us what the JD stands for. Do you have chinese names? :)
My kids and their cousins though they have english first names the middle names are chinese.(in my kids case though their chinese names aren't on their birth certificate or the names would of been quite long as both have two english middle names). My sons chinese name is G-Ho and my daughter is E-ling. Apprently my name isn't a good thing in chinese... Susan means stupid or something(forget what exactly) so they took to calling me Soo Sai. Now hmm with the abreviations of "a-<second name>" it can get intresting. My ex husbands name in english is a swear word, another is a part of a bird in english, my son's is something nasty you'd call a female, and my exhusbands is in english a comment on orientation.(then again some english words in other languages are also amusing) |
