        Wait-for-Comic Ads? by mortaine 2002-06-10 12:43:51
Illiad,

The "wait 12 seconds for the comic to show up" might be another way to go for ad space. While controversial, I think if you exercised a certain amount of artistic license to fit the ad into the comic's style, it would work pretty well. For example, the animations for Seattle Labs would fit in seamlessly.

I would rather wait a few seconds for the comic to show up than to have a pop-up banner that I have to close, or an intermediary page (as in Yahoo) that I have to click another link to get to the content.

Anyway, I will be subscribing as soon as I get home onto my own computer-- I try to avoid e-shopping at w**k.

And having an opt-in option for subscribers to be able to be logged in (so they can post and such) and still see the ads would be kind of spiffy-- I know I'd want that. I generally like the ads that have been allowed on UF, because they're well-targeted to make me feel like I'm part of the geek community.
