Several states have them. Each company has its own. If you are not on your state's list, or your state doesn't have one, you're SOL. You can ask to be placed on the in-house DNC list. That would mean that that particular company will not call you again. It does not stop any other company from doing so. Generally, there is a grace period for the company to perform the addition of your name to the list. Companies that say they will place you on DNC lists of other companies are full of crap. They do try, but the lists they send out get tossed in the trash upon receipt. I deal with DNC lists daily, so you can take my word on this.
