To Get Off Telemarketing Lists by GeekPrincess2002-06-10 10:43:04
      But alas... by nin_man 2002-06-10 10:49:22
Most states that have a No-Call list have so many exceptions that, really, it's not really beneficial to be added. Examples of exempt organizations are charities, companies with whom (argh, I used it!) you have current association, and political parties seeking donation or support.

I don't have the full list right in front of me, but even long-distance carriers can sneak in through the gaping loopholes found in many No-Call legislations. The best you can do is ask to have your number added to each company's no-call list. Often, telemarketing is farmed out to larger companies, and if your name is added to the list of the larger company, that will prevent calls on behalf of any of its clients.

Failing that, however, you can just go my route: be downright abusive. It's a great way to let off steam, and you can actually get telemarketers to hang up on you. :)
