Illiad: "$36.00 a year" is too much! by Newromancer2002-06-10 03:58:44

In my house we have a different word for it: by Gary_7 2002-06-10 10:47:09
"Mooch" (sounds like smooch) is the word we use. I've never heard sponge, but it certainly applies. I liked the synonymns listed: leech, free-loader, etc.

Anyway I certainly agree with your assesment. I plan to start my membership with my next paycheck! I certainly understand your predicament, you're like PBS, you want to provide quality, commercial-free content but can't do it without the support of, *ahem*, "members like you." I appreciate your way of promoting a lot better than I do the PBS method. PBS interrupts your program, right in the middle of the good part, to get a bunch of annoying people with painted-on smiles to get you to pledge. I wonder how many people have given up on PBS b/c of the annoying interruptions. I also wonder how many people send a pledge just to shut the idiots up and get back to their program. (That's what I do.)

So, Illiad, I applaud you in your decent and valiant effort to continue to provide the geeks of the world with a little humor to brighten their day! It helps to know that there are those out there that (as the CDW commercial says) "know what it's like to work in I.T."

*STANDING OVATION*
