  Lot's of advice. by Beavis 2002-06-10 10:25:32
Some people are very small (no pun intended 'ma petite').

That was a very small thing to do.

Not all, but many HR people end up in that type of job because they are control freaks who, being so small themselves, aspire to make every body else fit in their little set of constraints.

The thing for you to do is to initiate a serious Job Search. Even if you don't plan on leaving your current Job or don't find anything better, it will provide you with a regained sense of control.

I would still have a conversation over this with your supervisor. If you are very fair, polite and diplomatic about it, you may be able to enlist his/her support to re-enter your time as "authorized" overtime. You may have to actually be 'in', but I think it is well worth it.

It will piss off the HR clone, and there is nothing she/he will be able to do, as you are within the policy.

At last, she may have been out of line to threaten to fire you. Unless the place you work is very different from others, this may be the turff of you boss. It may even border on harassment.

I would also play on that and tell your boss that you were threatened to be fired by HR.. they may not take it kindly.

Meehehehehe.

Don't hate the place so much. Learn from the Job while looking for a new one. There are small people everywhere, and you will be happier if you learn as much as you can where you are.

I know I shouldn't give advice, but what the heck.

Beavis.
