| Book exclusive comics? |

Two of the Dilbert books have comics exlusive to them.
"Dogbert's Clues for the Clueless" and "Build a better life
by stealing office supplies" both have comics that weren't
published on the internet or in newspapers. So by buying
the books (And thus supporting Scott Adams) you get additional
comics that you wouldn't get elsewhere. (The books I listed
are not in standard storyline form.)
Back to the clearing the archives bit:
I know I took some heat over that, but let me try to make that
point once more.
The books essentially have no value. I'm sorry to say this, but
organizations like this don't always work on donations. No
people don't NEED the old comics, but many people do buy books
like that because it has tons of old comics that aren't
available elsewhere. Being old doesn't elimate their value.
It does eliminate their value if you are already read them
on the archive.
Also, it likely will not turn away potential new UFies.
Heres why: You don't need old comics to understand new
jokes.
Heres why people (who don't have archive access) would
want the books: When I buy a dilbert book, even the small
ones have over 150 comics.
So? 150 comics in one day is a very nice experience.
Charity is NICE, but many people aren't, unfortunetly.
Sure you would like to have stuff for free, but most
people don't pay unless they really get something.
Lack of ads aren't much. Archives of old comics and
maybe even registered-user\book exclusive comics ARE
something people will pay for.
If you depend on people's charity, don't expect much
because as has been proven over and over again, people
aren't usually charitable. Even people who might be
say "the next guy will pay" or "whats in it for me?" |
