there are any number of people here who have already paid for membership. We didn't find it to be an outrageous price to pay for supporting something we love.
Consider that it's $3 a month, and it seems very reasonable to me.
Of course, there are alternatives.
If you want to support UF, you could always just send a contribution in. Then you get to choose exactly how much keeping the site online is worth to you. If $10 is a reasonable amount to you, then send that in.
Nobody is forcing you to become a member, or even contribute.
I think what you get as a member is outlined very clearly in the offer, isn't it?
UF isn't yet a subscription only site. You get to come here and enjoy it for free, except for a few ad banners.
