It uses IPSec, not PPTP. Which is better, since IPSec is an IETF standard (and is incorporated into IPv6, I think). More info here: www.freeswan.org My knowledge of it is a little shakey (hence the various questions I have asked over the past few days), but I may be able to help you some. What are you trying to do with this VPN?
