| I didn't post it because it was inflammatory. In fact, I posted it in spite of the fact that it's inflammatory. Generally, if I'm out to start a flamewar (as I've been known to do once or twice), I'll post something that geeks will rally against because it's anti-geekery or something. I've no problems with saying things not geekish, because I generally mean them. This, why, it's an affront to decency, but there's something else in there, too. Some saw it and commented accordingly, others couldn't get past the racism. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if it's getting to the point where any post that doesn't include a hug is going to be called a troll. Yeah, I called it one in jest, knowing the tendency of this crowd to call ANYTHING they disagree with a troll. Sort of how you'll control-burn a forest to prevent large-scale forest fires. By your definition, anything that sparks discussion is a troll, because how can you spark discussion without disagreement? I didn't post it for the sole sake of drawing responses, I wanted to see what the community thought. |
