My opinion is that this new department may increase governmental bureaucracy (so what else is new), but it is unlikely to result in anything as invasive as the Gestapo. That distinction belonged to the FBI before J. Edgar "Hitler in a tutu" Hoover died and set the rest of America free. Since then, the FBI has been just as incompetent as the rest of the American government (which is where we Americans get a good portion of our personal freedoms just like our friends in Canada).
