While I agree that such a measure could put an end to the immigration epidemic that's going on, would it really ever happen? I would think that would inspire feelings not unlike those which inspired the (dare I call it such?) poem that started this whole thread.

Besides, who says Mexico would WANT to be part of the US? Puerto Rico hasn't exactly broken its neck in becoming a state.
