If you think Krispy Kreme's are good, you should make a trip to one of the few worthwhile places in Terre Haute, Indiana, and have some Square Donuts (sic). I have eaten both, freshly made, and in the "melt-in-the-mouth" category, the Square Donuts win, hands down.

You can find them on US41 (3rd Street), toward the south end of town; but make sure you get there early, if it's a holiday weekend[1]--they tend to get "cleaned out" by out-of-town visitors. In fact, ${COMPANY} where my wife used to work even had a rule that anyone who visited ${CUSTOMER}, in "Terrible Hole", had to bring back Square Donuts, on pain of misery and death too horrible to describe.
