OK, so UT has people who think they're l33t, bits of the "community" descend into mindless bitching occasionally, and most of it's hosted by Gamespy, but bits of the UT community actually deserve to be called community.

As (a bit of) a mod maker, I can't agree with you that mods spoil the game; OK, some of the really small ones are abysmal, and the really big ones tend to get elitist, but there are many mods which add to the game considerably... and if you don't like them, there's always the basic game :-)

I'm also known as Psychic_313, one of the moderators on the forums at Identity Crisis, a skins/models site focusing on quality over quantity. Have a look at some of the artwork there and at Polycount (and indeed at the community on the IC forums), you might be pleasantly surprised.
