| ...which, worded as they are, really aren't that nice. We have a hobby - it's called breeding, for example. But living where I do, I do tend to agree with much of the sentiment of that. Someday, I'm going to go out with the camera and take a few pictures. One is of a street sign that's in Spanish...with no English translation anywhere to be found. The first time I saw that, my heart did sink. It's the "box 'em up and ship 'em back" attitude that I'm still unsure about. Because it's not universally true that someone will sneak into the country, refuse to learn English, and merrily live off welfare for as long as possible, having more children than can be counted on two hands - many immigrants do seek citizenship, try to better themselves, and live the dream. But the ones that don't, and they sadly outnumber those that do, are such a drain on resources that they have no right to, I have to wonder if it's really worth it. Sometimes I'd like to see a Berlin-esque wall built across the southern border, with armed guards and landmines and everything. It's become problematic, such that Americans are unable to find work due to illegal immigrants swarming an area and sucking up all the employment. When that happens, something has to be done. |
