Tech talk: Implementing ACLs on linux by Kickstart 2006-11-19 12:55:59
Hi folks,

I'm looking at implementing ACLs on my Redhat 7.2 linux server (ext3) and so have been researching my brains out. There's a bunch of info here and even a step-by-step guide, but this all seems rather complicated, involving ripping out a bunch of executables by hand, recompiling the kernel, etc. Information out there on the net is sketchy for this though I'm surprised it's not implemented by default on newer distributions.

The server can't have serious downtime, it runs most of the samba filesharing for 150 people and some printer sharing as well, so I want some advice from people-in-the-know before I go all out on this. Has anyone done this? Any advice?

Thanks,

Kickstart
