Juvenile or not it is necessary. Below are some examples
Educated - think of someone with at least the same level as yourself.
Educated man (in conversation) for me is one who knows what's he talking about. That means he/she has some knowledge of discussed topic (or states otherwise) and can accurate express his/hers ideas.
Average here is not a mathematical concept, it means "on the whole" or "in general".
So, by you, average American is every American?
Precise - yes they generally use expressions that are more accurate.
No. You said they talk and write more accurate. You never mentioned the way they express. By what you've written in this post they express more accurate.
Generalization, my friend, is a relative term.
