Actually it is a long story but here goes:

My computer had not arrived yet, but since one of the salesmen quit, I took his computer and carried it into my cubicle. I then noticed that my data port was being used by someone on the other side of the office. She had run her data port through the ceiling to her computer because her data port didn't work. Apparently BellSouth never activated it. I spent two days on the phone with BellSucks trying to get them to send someone out here to do it, and gave up. They insists that it isn't their job, but they would like to sell me long distance service while they have me on the phone.

I went in the back to make sure that it wasn't a simple matter of a cable not being plugged into a hub. But that wasn't the case. I gave up on BellSucks and decided to rig up something. I took some petty cash to Office Depot and got a crossover hub. I then connected it to the data port and our two computers to that hub. Granted this will slow things down a bit, but at least I now have a connection.

Yeah, I guess this has earned me a few geekpoints.

Now if I can convince this company to scrap Windows NT. . .
