I've seen a lot of anal retentive goosesteppers going on about "what's an American? There are two continents, blah blah blah", which merely translates to "I'm an anal retentive goosestepper, I'm so leet, blah blah blah".
In the context given, it is more than correct to assume (yes, it is SAFE to make certain assumptions) American means US citizen. This has a long-standing precedent that predates even your grandparents. So get over it already.
And to the ones who also add the bit about "born in the US or immigrated?": why didn't you ask the same question about a British citizen? I have an answer, but you won't like it.
This is only my opinion. However, since my opinion is - on AVERAGE - far superior to yours, we'll just call it a fact. |
