There are a few of us... IMHO most Americans speak better AMERICAN than us Brits, not better English. Language can and should be updated, both in vocabulary and in grammer as time goes by (Look at some of the silly-ness generated by the Acadamie Francaise trying to deny this in recent times) but there comes a time when languages diverge and I think that American & English are approaching that point. American spellings and constructions are in far wider use than English ones nowadays, so it is not too surprising that some people think the American way of doing things is correct, but it isn't English.
